Commemorating the launch of America's Promise Alliance's 10-year Grad Nation campaign, the First Annual Building a Grad Nation Summit convened March 21-23, 2011 in Washington, D.C. The three-day event was co-hosted by America's Promise Alliance, the Alliance for Excellent Education, Civic Enterprises, and the Everyone Graduates Center at Johns Hopkins University to inspire a national movement to reach the goal of a 90 percent national graduation rate by 2020. Now they hope you'll save the date for the second annual Building a Grad Nation Summit.
This successful event brought together nearly 900 community, education and business leaders from all over the country to discuss solutions to the challenging high school dropout crisis in America. Participants heard from administration officials, experts in education and business and exemplary young people, as well as shared learnings and successes with peers and received a special keynote from Vice President Joseph Biden.
CEO Karen Pittman appears on a panel about "Collective Impact: Creating and Sustaining Successful Partnerships"; Policy Director Elizabeth Gaines appears on a panel about "Sustaining Youth Initiatives in Tough Economic Times." The summit is hosted by America's Promise Alliance.
