Webinar hosted by Alliance for Boys and Men of Color
Young men of color are disproportionately overrepresented in our nation's population of "Opportunity Youth" -- the population of youth who are out of school and out of work and may have a history of systems involvement. Community-based organizations, school districts, and city leaders are employing a variety of innovative strategies to re-engage youth to keep them out of the justice system and help connect them to meaningful education and employment opportunities. These efforts include the establishment of one-stop reengagement centers or virtual equivalents that offer a range of services, including referrals to school completion options and support to re-enroll, and career pathways programs. In addition to these innovative approaches, ACR 102 (E. Garcia) would recognize August 2017 as Opportunity Youth Reengagement Month and encourage the development of a comprehensive statewide reengagement strategy in California. Join us to learn about the efforts taking place in California and around the country to ensure all of our young people are on a pathway to success!
