Corralling Collaborations

"What would it look like if we realigned?"

Leaders of initiatives designed to improve lives through community change are pondering this question now more than ever. The challenges are significant but we can learn from experience.

The Forum for Youth Investment got into the collaboration alignment business more than a decade ago, and CEO Karen Pittman draws on that experience in her latest blog for the Collective Impact Forum, where she shares five requirements for aligning community initiatives. See why she believes that "cross-sector, cross-system, cross-issue collaboration is critical to achieving the kind of community change that collective impact efforts aim for."

Looking to dive deeper? Join the Forum's co-founders in a Nov. 5 webinar that will explore the processes, strategies and tools that enable collective impact efforts to work together.

National Mentoring Summit

Registration is open for the 2015 National Mentoring Summit, Jan. 28-30 in Washington, D.C.  This national forum brings together practitioners, researchers, corporate partners, government and civic leaders, national youth-serving organizations and MENTOR's network of affiliate mentoring partnerships to explore and advance mentoring's positive impact on youth and communities. Browse the workshop offerings, which revolve around this year's theme, "Expanding the Mentoring Effect."

The Power of Positive Connections

This month, hundreds of communities are working to raise awareness about the harmful impact of chronic absence, by celebrating Attendance Awareness Month. A free webinar will introduce the new Attendance Works toolkit, The Power of Positive Connections: Reducing Chronic Absence Through PEOPLE. Learn how to make students with attendance challenges a priority, and identify ways to encourage them through linkages to caring adults, enriching activities and needed supports.

Sept. 30, 2 p.m. ET.
