Building a Blueprint to Improve Youth Outcomes

Alexandria releases Children & Youth Master Plan
Information Update
September 30, 2014

As more communities recognize the need to develop an overarching plan to improve youth outcomes, one Virginia city is showing how to do it.

Alexandria, Va., just released its new Children & Youth Master Plan, which sets long-term, community-wide goals for young people and identifies specific action steps for reaching those goals. The plan was created in partnership with the Forum for Youth Investment, building on data analysis, public input and the latest research about youth development and community change. The city and the Forum laid the groundwork for the plan with the Alexandria Children & Youth Well-Being Profile, which identified the key challenges facing the city's young people and the causes behind those challenges.
