April 13, 2017 - 2:00 pm to April 13, 2017 - 3:00 pm
The Forum for Youth Investment
These candid, unscripted conversations feature Karen Pittman with some of the most influential, boundary-pushing leaders working to improve the lives of children and youth.
This session featured Katie Brackenridge, Vice President of Programs for the Partnership for Children & Youth, based in Oakland, Calif., and focused on how states and localities can align their school and out-of-school time (OST) systems - particularly as it relates to social and emotional learning (SEL). These systems often work with the same children, but do not always coordinate in ways that can ensure greater communication and better outcomes. The conversation focused on some of the lessons learned in California and the challenges that remain for aligning the K-12 and OST systems to support youth.
