National Collaboration for Youth

The National Collaboration for Youth (NCY) is a 50-year old affinity group of National Human Services Assembly member organizations that have a significant interest in youth development.  Members of NCY collectively serve more than 40 million young people, employ over 100,000 staff, use more than six million volunteers, and have a physical presence in virtually every community in America.  NCY members provide research, support, and information for service providers about best practices in youth development.  In 2008, NCY and the Forum for Youth Investment formed a strategic alliance to use Ready by 21 as the basis to develop NCY’s member knowledge and leadership work.

NCY and its members have identified a number of priorities that are fully aligned with Ready by 21 ideas and strategies, and thus shapes NCY’s work as a member in the Ready by 21 National Partnership – priorities like strengthening collaboration, improving program quality, and identifying common outcomes.  With its extensive membership reach and youth development experience, NCY is able to foster local collaborations for youth that strengthen the collective power of youth development organizations, and ensure that their expertise is imbedded in Ready by 21 policy and program development efforts in their communities.
